Our builders (often referred to as a general builder) in the UK turns architectural plans into physical structures, overseeing or physically constructing, renovating, and maintaining residential and commercial properties.

Unlike specialized tradespeople (such as electricians or plumbers) or site labourers (who primarily handle general manual tasks), a builder manages structural work from pre-construction planning through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Groundwork & Structural Construction: Preparing site foundations, laying concrete, constructing brick or block masonry walls, installing structural timber framing, and completing roofing work.

• Renovations & Extensions: Building domestic house extensions, loft conversions, structural wall removals, and general home refurbishments.

• Project & Site Management: Coordinating specialist trades (e.g., plumbers, plasterers, roofers), sourcing building materials, and keeping projects on schedule and within budget.

• Building Regulations & Safety: Ensuring all work complies with UK Building Regulations and adheres to Strict HSE (Health and Safety Executive) guidelines on site.

• Reading Blueprints: Interpreting architectural drawings, structural engineer calculations, and technical specifications.

Skills & Qualifications

• Trade Expertise: Strong multi-skilled practical knowledge across bricklaying, basic carpentry, concreting, and dry lining.

• Accreditations & CSCS: Typically holds a CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) for site work and qualifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Trowel Occupations or Wood Occupations.
